The Mary L. Blood Memorial Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant
Hours: 5 hours/week (average), flexible
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs all duties related to the circulation of library materials
Answers phone and makes calls to patrons
Assists patrons to find materials in the library
Shelves books as needed
Processing books (will train the right candidate)
Other tasks as assigned
Essential Qualifications:
Excellent customer/public service skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality for patrons and staff
Computer literacy
Detail-oriented
Ability to work independently
Experience in public libraries preferred
The ideal candidate would have some flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and the very occasional Wednesday or Saturday morning shift.
This position is ideal for someone who would be comfortable with or is willing to learn all aspects of library work, including but not limited to: circulation, shelving, cataloging, patron records, book processing, inter-library loan, e-book and audio book lending, and library programming. The Library aims to create a welcoming, supportive, and flexible environment for staff and for patrons.
