Author Talk with Amber Roberts and Julia C. Alter

Join us for food, drink, good company, and readings by two Vermont authors.

Amber Roberts writes contemporary romance about unabashedly nerdy characters in ridiculous situations. She lives with her husband, two children, and formerly feral cats in the Vermont woods, where eating maple creemees is a year-round activity. She spends her time copywriting, forgetting to water her plants, and awkwardly replying “you too” at inappropriate moments.

About her book: In Haunt Your Heart Out, a dashing ghost hunter and the bookseller who made up the ghosts he’s chasing wind up entangled in more ways than one in this steamy contemporary romance from Amber Roberts, perfect for fans of Ashley Poston and Chloe Liese.

Julia C. Alter is the author of Some Dark Familiar (Green Writers Press, 2024), selected by Matthew Olzmann as the winner of the 2023 Sundog Poetry Book Award. Her poems have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, and appear widely in journals and anthologies. She lives in Vermont with her son.

About her book: Good poetry manages to hold space for our most contradictory selves. And in this, we learn a little how to live. In Julia C. Alter’s vivid and surprising debut collection, Some Dark Familiar, we explore the familiar and unfamiliar in our relationships to those closest to us, and to ourselves.
